Hi Everyone, quick heads up about our neighbouring club’s friendly Time Trial.

It’s a 10 mile out and back course on the old A30. It’s 5 miles westbound until you get to Lewdown, where there is a marshall with a big red flag by the war memorial who safely manages your traffic filter/ U turn, and then its 5 miles back to the start.

Registration is at 6:30 pm at the Start line near the Bridestowe Junction and it costs just £5.00 to enter on the night. The first rider goes off at 7 pm, generally the steadier riders go first.

To participate: wear club kit if you can and you MUST have a turned on front and rear light and wear a helmet. It’s a standing start and riders go off every couple of minutes. You will be given a high viz yellow number to pin on as low down your back as possible so the timers can identify you.

    Dates are:

    02/05
    16/05
    30/05
    13/06
    27/06
    11/07

    NOTES:

    – TT’s are sometimes known as the race of truth. Or “Contre le Montre” which simply means “against the clock”.
    – some people will ride roadbikes and others will be on tri or tt set ups.
    – you cant enter on an ebike
    – you will get fitter as you repeat the competition through the season and race nerves are to be expected. Being nervous is the same as bring excited so harness the feeling and get stuck in. Remember the wind has a massive effect on your performance so your times will go up and down depending what comes at you.
    – make sure you extend thanks to organisers post event.
    – any first timers from club, we will happily cover your first x2 entries but you need to give us advance notice.
    – make sure you warm up first. Last year we got in the habit of parking in the layby near the old Harris Arms at Portgate.

WANTED! Cheering Squad to support all participants along the course. The crazier the better, bells and whistles and music and fancy dress to be encouraged, just stay safe on the side of the road. It’s a MASSIVE help to all riders. 🥳🥳

Has anyone ridden the route recently? I know they have resurfaced up and around Alder and there are still no road markings.

I might consider a recce on Tuesday evening if it’s dry and if anyone is keen?

Sooo. I would like to take you up on your offer of a reccy on Tues at Bridistowe.
What time are we congregating? And will that be at the start or the lay-by gathering place? Maz

Plan for this Tuesday (25th) – Oke TT 10 miler route recce…

Meet at Bridestowe Village Hall car park at 1745hrs (on bikes ready to go), you can’t park in the hall car park but there is plenty of parking in the village or along this lane https://w3w.co/doubts.apprehend.trick.

We will ride to the start lay-by and have a quick chat about the start and process of the TT.

Then we can ride the 10 mile route (turnaround at Lewdown) returning to the finish point. This will be a leisurely ride to look at road surface etc.

I have to pick up from football at 1930hrs at Ashbury so will need to leave promptly at 1920hrs! I’m planning on parking in Bridestowe Village.

Let me know if you want to come. Please note this is not an organised club ride.
    Thanks,
    Rachel
